Car collision causes fire on Front Street

A car collision in East Meadow on March 14 caused one vehicle to go up in flames.

 

East Meadow Fire Department Engines 1, 2, Ladder 1, and Rescue 5 were alerted to an "Auto Accident with Fire" on Front Street in the vicinity of Kodma Place.

 

With minutes, assistant chiefs Eric Becker and James Walsh sought help and were soon followed by all four companies.  On scene, firefighters were confronted with the two-car motor vehicle accident with one car on fire. Quickly, Ladder 1 members made certain all occupants were out, while first due Engine 1 worked to extinguish the fire, and Rescue 5 took care of one minor injury.

 

The fire was extinguished within minutes and all units were secured within 45 minutes.

 

Front Street was temporarily shut down with the assistance of the Nassau County Police Department.
