Crime watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests

On April 4 at 8:45 a.m., a 31-year-old from Inwood was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operator, unlicensed operator and defective exhaust on Rockaway Avenue.

A 53-year-old Freeport man was arrested on April 4 at 8:20 p.m. and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (Percocet) and possession of marijuana on Merrick Road.

On April 6 at 8:50 p.m., a 30-year-old from Lynbrook was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of marijuana on Davison Avenue.

A 30-year-old from Ozone Park, Queens was arrested on Bixley Heath on April 7 at 10:32 a.m. and charged with two counts of aggravated unlicensed operator, unlicensed operator, defective brake lamps and defective exhaust.

On April 7 at 11:27 p.m., a Freeport man was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of marijuana on Sunrise Highway.

A 32-year-old Brooklyn woman was arrested on April 8 at 2:20 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol on Sunrise Highway.

Thefts

A Lynbrook resident was called on April 5 at 8:20 p.m. by a person claiming to be Mark Jones, an employee from the Internal Revenue Service, who stated that the resident owed $2,550. The caller directed the Lynbrook resident to purchase iTunes cards in the amount and provide the card information over the phone to the caller. The total loss was $2,550. Lynbrook police warn residents not to give personal information over the phone or send debit card, gift cards or wire money until the caller’s identity and employment is verified.
