To celebrate a successful summer season—and the start of fall—the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County’s East Meadow Farm held its annual Family Fun Day on Sept. 16.

This year, the farm marked its fifth year in the community, celebrating families across East Meadow in a healthy way. The farm offered samples of its vegetables, sold fresh produce grown in the gardens, demonstrated some of its specialty gardens, including its butterfly and dahlia garden, and offered families educational tools to help them start their own garden.

The farm, which sits on 2 ½ acres on Merrick Avenue in East Meadow, served several of its homegrown vegetables and herbs, and showcased its Horticulture Center and Demonstration Gardens to families from across the community. The farm is part of the statewide CEE program, which aims to educate the community on ecologically minded ways to maintain vegetation and agriculture.
