East Meadow School District employee found asleep in car full of drugs

An employee of the East Meadow School District was arrested on March 7 after police found her asleep in her car with marijuana, cocaine and pills.

Stephanie Kalan, 26, of Old Bethpage, had parked her 2015 Mitsubishi on Front Street in Massapequa Park at 10:10 p.m. when police officers on routine patrol reported to have found her sleeping in the driver’s seat.

On the passenger’s seat next to Kalan was a black vape pen containing tetrahydrocannabinol, the drug found in marijuana, police said. Also in the car was a straw filled with cocaine and several containers of pills believed to be amphetamine and dextroamphetamine.

Kalan was arrested on the scene without incident. She is being charged with five counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. She was released on a Nassau County Appearance Ticket returnable on April 11 to the Nassau County First District Court.
