East Meadow installs its PTA members for 2018-19

New members of the council and Parents Teacher Association were installed on June 13 at the PTA Council Installation Dinner at the Coral House in Baldwin.

At the dinner’s commencement, lifetime awards were given to Tracy Polese and Donna LaScala and Brian O’Flaherty was recognized for over a decade of service on the Board of Education.

Superintendent Kenneth Card installed the officers of the East Meadow Council of the Parent Teacher Association for the coming 2018-2019 school year. Robin Fitzpatrick will be leading as president for another year, the First Vice President is Veronica Nicastro, the Second Vice President is Donna Goldstein, the Treasurer is Denise Michaelis, the Corresponding Secretary is Trish Licciardo and the Recording Secretary is Stephanie Ramos.

“The council leaders help local units function effectively by giving its officers and chairmen opportunities to compare methods of work, receive suggestions on procedure, unite in common projects, and cooperate in improving the education and welfare of children and youth,” Card said.

Robin Fitzpatrick introduced the new PTA presidents for each school. The PTA Presidents and Co-Presidents are Denise Kofod for Barnum Woods Elementary School, Jeanette Otero and Jenn Beverly for Bowling Green Elementary School, Stephanie Ramos and Nicole Giles for East Meadow High School, Allison Benowitz and Elizabeth Morgan for Meadowbrook Elementary School, Jill Mallilo and Heather Parker for McVey Elementary School, Stephanie Nappo and Deanna Walsh for Parkway Elementary School, Kelly Jones for SEPTA, Diane Munoz and Len Skoros for Woodland Middle School and Denise Michaelis and Jenn Herdes for WT Clarke.

Veronica Nicastro, the first vice president of the PTA Council, and Donna Goldstein, the second vice president of the PTA Council, introduced the new PTA vice presidents for each school.

The PTA Vice Presidents and Co-Vice Presidents are Jeanette Ackerman and Amanda Skoros for Barnum Woods, Tricia Barsuaskas and Allison McGeough for Bowling Green, Donna Goldstein and Cleo Gakshteyn for East Meadow HS, Kathy McKelvey and Jennifer Peysner for McVey, Lori Brewster for Meadowbrook, Lisa Ronzo and Gretchen Derov for Parkway, Donna Plante for SEPTA, Linda Giblin and Stacey Schwartz for WT Clarke.

Denise Michaelis, the treasure of the PTA Council, announced the treasurers of the PTA for each school. The Treasurers of the PTA are Olga Kalogiannis for Barnum Woods, Pina Ruperto for Bowling Green, Trish Licciardo for East Meadow HS, Maureen Hard for McVey, Elizabeth Morgan for Meadowbrook, Robert Panzica for Parkway, Paulette Foley for SEPTA, Ann Jackson for for Woodland and Kristi Romano for WT Clarke..

Trish Licciardo, the corresponding secretary of the PTA Council, introduced the corresponding secretaries for each school’s PTA. The corresponding secretaries of the PTA are Melissa Nails for Bowling Green, Joanne Newberger for East Meadow HS, Shannon Nocci for McVey, Jennifer Cohen for Meadowbrook, Theresa Ziembicki for Parkway, Maureen Raichel for SEPTA, Liz Olivia-Kong for Woodland and Michelle Agassi for WT Clarke.

Stephanie Ramos, the recording secretary for the Council of PTA, introduced the new recording secretaries. The Recording Secretaries for the PTA are Sabrina Urso for Barnum Woods, Jennifer Failla for Bowling Green, Tami Ann Scardino for East Meadow HS, Sharon Sokhey for McVey, Maria Morello for Meadowbrook, Julissa Orlando for Parkway, Michelle Brandeis for Septa, Debbie Russo for Woodland, Maria Farry for WT Clarke.

Lastly, Scott Eckers, the President of the Board of Education, introduced the new Parent Delegates. The Parent Delegates are Tonia Iadevaia for Bowling Green, Nancy Carman and Kathy Worthman for WT Clarke and Tobie Shedrow for Septa. The Parent Delegates are responsible for attending meetings and disseminating information.
