Woodmere firefighters received a call about a fire at 201 Ocean Ave. in Hewlett Neck at 11:05 a.m. on Jan. 21.

The size of the fire coupled with the frigid weather conditions caused the department to upgrade the blaze to a two-alarm fire, according to Woodmere First Assistant Chief Adam L. Barry Slotnick.

Three people were treated for minor injuries at the scene, one was a firefighter that slipped on a patch of ice. He was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside for an examination and was released.

East Rockaway, Hewlett, Inwood, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Long Beach, Lynbrook, Medaowmere Park, Oceanside and Valley Stream fire departments also responded as well as Hatzalah ambulance.

Slotnick said the county fire marshal is yet to determine a cause of the fire, but he said it's not being treated as suspicious.
