Honored for being named to the state Veterans Hall of Fame

After leading the Veterans Day ceremony in Cedarhurst in his position as commander of the Lawrence Cedarhurst American Legion Post 339, Syd Mandelbaum received the honor of being inducted in the New York State Veterans Hall of Fame through a nomination from State Assemblywoman Melissa Miller (R-Atlantic Beach).

Mandelbaum, a Cedarhurst resident, is founder and chief executive officer of Rock and Wrap It Up! an anti-poverty think tank that recently established a Feed the Veterans program. Mandelbaum served stateside in the Air Force Reserves from 1969-’75.

Also inducted were Luke Magliaro, also of Cedarhurst, and Inwood resident Frank Santora.

The virtual Hall of Fame was established to recognize veterans from New York who have distinguished themselves in the military and civilian life.
