Kiwanis serves breakfast to the community

One of the biggest events of the East Meadow Kiwanis is its annual pancake breakfast, which drew hundreds to the East Meadow High School cafeteria on March 10 despite the harsh weather.

“It used to be a much smaller event,” said President Gary Fromowitz, gesturing to a banner thanking a list of sponsors. “Back in the day, we didn’t have that.”

The morning did not only consist of food, but a 50/50 raffle, prizes, face painting and balloon animals.

The pancake breakfast, which has been held for over 20 years, is the club’s second-largest fundraiser. The largest is its Steven J. Eisman Memorial Golf Outing, which is held in conjunction with Borrelli’s Italian Restaurant. East Meadow Kiwanis raises money from both toward scholarships for graduating seniors and tuition to send students to Kamp Kiwanis.
