Jason Rosenbaum, 27, was struck and killed in Valley Stream on May 24, Nassau County Police Department homicide detectives reported.

The accident occurred as the motorcycle was proceeding south on Rockaway Avenue and collided with a 2012 Honda SUV driven by a 55-year-old man. The SUV was turning left onto Dubois Avenue at the time of the accident. The motorcycle rider suffered critical injuries when was thrown from his bike onto the roadway. He was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. An 82-year-old woman, who was riding in the front seat of the SUV, was also injured in the accident. She is in stable condition at an area hospital, where she was treated for a head injury. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

But one eyewitness, Kenneth Lynch, who lives on Catherine Streetm said that the motorcycle could not avoid the SUV because the SUV was blocking the street. "It really has to be deliberate," he told the Herald. "He shouldn't have died like that."

Both vehicles were removed from the scene and will be subjected to safety checks. The investigation into the accident’s causes is ongoing.
