The Peninsula Kiwanis, along with attorney Joseph Daniels, held a program at SaVino’s of Lynbrook where they discussed the consequences of driving while under the influence of alcohol on Jan. 10.

Daniels said that the financial and personal costs of a DWI are not worth the risk, stating that he has handled a variety of cases, and they only resulted in a felony conviction and jail time.

At the Wednesday meeting, new member Bennett Pearlman, of Far Rockaway, was inducted. An active participant, Pearlman has attended various meetings in the past two months. Sponsored by Peninsula Kiwanis president Michael Gliner and installed by past Kiwanis Lt. Governor Sal Accomando, Bennett said he looks forward to using his role to help the less fortunate people of the community.
