CEMCO community meeting

The Council of East Meadow Community Organizations is holding a community meeting to discuss three issues affecting the community, including the Nassau Coliseum Hub development plan, an update on the traffic signal at East Meadow Avenue and Front Street and the proposed state legislation of the legalization of recreational marijuana. To address these issues CEMCO has invited representatives from RXR Development, State Senator Kevin Thomas and State Assemblyman John Mikulin. The meeting is on May 16 and will begin at 7 p.m. at the East Meadow Fire Department headquarters on East Meadow Avenue. If additional information is needed, contact Joseph Parisi at 516-542-7609.

Jack’s Run 5K for autism awareness

Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism is gearing up for its 13th annual Jack’s Run 5K for autism awareness at Eisenhower Park on May 18. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8:30 a.m. Following the race, there will be a breakfast and award ceremony at 10 a.m. NSSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and treatment of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders located in Commack.

Stew Leonard’s water safety brunch

Come join your friends at Stew Leonard’s in East Meadow for a brunch on water safety on May 18. Children will receive a free “Swim Time with Stewie the Duck” book, which will be read at the event. The special guest will be Stewie the Duck himself. The event goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1897 Front Street, East Meadow. Breakfast will include French toast sticks, fruit, bagels, scrambled eggs, bacon and orange juice. Tickets start at $11.99.
