The class registration is $38.

James Lodato Cure Childhood Cancer 5K

The inaugural James Lodato Cure Childhood Cancer 5K is taking place at Eisenhower Park on Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. The run is in memory of James Lodato, who went to Forest Lake Elementary School in Wantagh and recently lost his battle with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Kids, runners, walkers, strollers and anyone else in welcome to participate. Amenities include t-shirts, an award ceremony, post-race refreshments and snacks. Awards go to the top three overall runners and top three in the following age groups: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and over 80. Packet pickup is the morning of the event beginning at 8 a.m. Early registration is $25, day-of registration is $30 and kids 15 and under are $15. Questions could be sent to clodato911@aol.com. Library Board Meeting

Come to the East Meadow Public Library’s Board meeting on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. at the East Meadow Fire Department’s Headquarters at 197 East Meadow Avenue in East Meadow. The East Meadow Public Library Board meets once a month, usually on the first Wednesday evening. All meetings are open to the public and all are welcome.
