Valley Stream inks deal with software company to monitor ‘zombie’ properties

The board of trustees on March 6 approved a contract with Logan, Utah-based Internet company iWorQ Systems, to use software to monitor ‘zombie’ properties in the village.

Tom McAleer, the buildings superintendent for the village, said this software will create a database of all of the blighted properties in the village, and track the foreclose process.

The system costs $13,000 annually, and there is a one-time setup and data conversion fee of $6,500. The fee will be covered by a Local Initiative Support Corporation Grant, which provides municipalities with funds to improve their infrastructure.
