Several lucky fourth-graders at Lynbrook’s Our Lady of Peace School and Rhame Avenue Elementary School in East Rockaway found out what it would have been like if they lived centuries ago — specifically, if they worked at such historic places like East Rockaway’s Grist Mill (now a museum), or witnessed the famous Bristol, and Mexico shipwrecks in the early 1800’s. more
The Historical Society of East Rockaway and Lynbrook sponsored four winter tea events. The first one was a Chocolate Valentine’s Day tea. It was followed by a Palm Beach Tea, a Gone With The Wind Tea and this year’s Very Berry Tea. The tea is a fund raiser to help offset costs of our history programs. Mary Colway, Board of Trustee member, who coordinates the tea said that the teas are held in the winter to not only raise funds but to raise “fun times in the shivery days of wintry weather.” more
