8th Senate District candidate discusses the issues

New York State Senate candidate Michael Venditto, a Republican from Massapequa, is running for the 8th Senate District seat vacated by Charles Fuschillo Jr., a Merrick Republican, in January. Venditto’s one-time opponent, David Denenberg, a Democrat from Merrick, recently dropped out of the race amid civil fraud charges leveled at him by his former law firm, Davidoff Hutcher & Citron.
The Herald asked Venditto to speak about the issues.

Herald: Why are you running for office?

Michael Venditto: I am seeking to become our next state senator because I want to continue to use my energies to keep improving our communities, fight for our fair share of state aid for Long Island schools, hold the line on taxes, and help create jobs and opportunities to allow hardworking Long Islanders to succeed.

I am a lifelong resident of the Massapequa community and proud graduate of the Long Island school system, who shares the concerns of my residents. I am a strong supporter of local schools, committed to providing students with the same opportunities I received when growing up here. I also have a longstanding commitment to advancing an agenda that protects our environment for future generations. I will continue those efforts on the state level.

I am enthusiastic and eager to serve the residents I represent in Nassau County government and am committed to addressing issues big or small. I will bring that enthusiasm and drive to the people of New York state.

I am a fiscally responsible elected official who is working for taxpayers and ensuring responsible government spending. I was proud to be the deciding vote for no county tax increases for our residents, while making sure to maintain services.

Herald: What is needed to make Long Island more affordable for residents?
