Local memorial ceremonies, links to Herald coverage of Sept. 11

Local towns and villages will be commemorating the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorists attacks with memorial ceremonies and remembrances. They include:

The East Meadow Fire Department will host a Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, at the corner of East Meadow and Prospect avenues, at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11.

East Rockaway: Sept. 11, 7 p.m. on the grounds of Memorial Park, adjacent to Village Hall, Atlantic Ave., East Rockaway.

Village officials, the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department and Lawrence School District students and faculty will take part in the ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park at the intersection of Cedarhurst and Summit avenues across from village hall.

Lynbrook: Sept. 11, 6 p.m. on the grounds of Memorial Park, adjacent to Village Hall, One Columbus Dr. Lynbrook.

Merrick: Sept. 11, 7 p.m. at the firefighters' monument at the northwest corner of Merrick Avenue and Sunrise Highway. 

Oceanside: 9/11 ceremony to be held on Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m., Schoolhouse Green, Oceanside High School, 3160 Skillman Avenue.
