Candidates run uncontested in East Rockaway, Lynbrook villages


Bruno Romano
Current position: Village Trustee
Career: Partner at an international freight forwarding business and a cruise planning business.
Education: Nassau Community College, Associates Degree

Deputy Mayor Bruno F. Romano was elected as trustee in March 2002. He is currently the liaison of the East Rockaway School District No. 20, Building Department, Fire Department, Recreation Dept., Senior Activity and Center and the Waterfront Revitalization Committee. He is a member of numerous organizations including the Msg. Walsh-St. Raymond’s Knights of Columbus, Village Foundation of East Rockaway, Kiwanis Club of East Rockaway, The Order Sons of Italy in America and the East Rockaway Chamber of Commerce.
Romano has been an East Rockaway Resident for 43 years, attended Centre Avenue Elementary School, and East Rockaway High School. He is married to his wife Theresa and has three children, Amanda, Anthony, and Joseph.


Theresa Gaffney
Current position: New
candidate for trustee
Career: Assistant to the chief of staff at the Town of Hempstead

Theresa Gaffney is running for a trustee position for the first time. Trustee Richard Gogarty, who was appointed and then ran uncontested last year, is not seeking re-election. She is president of the Village Foundation of East Rockaway, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to helping village residents. Gaffney has also been involved in multiple community organizations including the East Rockaway Pride Party, where she served as its treasurer and membership chairperson; the East Rockaway Village “Welcome Wagon” Committee and is currently president of the East Rockaway Village Library Board.
    Gaffney has lived in East Rockaway for nearly eight years with her husband John and two children Courtney and John.
