To date, he and his foundation have donated more than a half-million toys, entertainment centers, electronics and other wish-list items to various hospitals. Periodically he drops off 1,000 gift bags for nurses to hand out in emergency rooms to comfort young patients.

His work with the foundation caught the eye of New York Islanders owner Charles Wang, who sends several players to accompany Ray on some of his hospital visits. “We were so happy to put smiles on those kids’ faces,” Ray said.

The Little Saint Nick Foundation will sponsor its seventh annual golf tournament on Oct. 7 (see box). The foundation also grants wishes to disabled children and those with special needs. For more information, visit www.littlestnick.org.
