Crime Watch: East Rockaway, Lynbrook

A 23-year-old of Far Rockaway, was arrested and charged with prostitution and possession of marijuana at the Lynbrook Capri Motor Inn located at 5 Freer St. on Feb. 28 at 8:05 p.m.

On Feb. 28 at 11:09 p.m., a 34-year-old man of St. Albans, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to stop and unlicensed operation on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.

At 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 28, a 30-year-old woman of Island Park, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to stop on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.

A 39-year-old of Oceanside, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, operate a motor vehicle while using a hand held cell phone, failure to signal a turn and no registration plate on Curtis Place in Lynbrook on March 4 at 9:40 a.m.

Petit larceny
At 4:53 p.m. on Feb. 25, a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) took their Apple iPhone from the pocket of their sweatpants while inside the Multi-Sports room at Sportstime, located at 175 Merrick Rd., Lynbrook. The value of the phone is $600.

Identity theft
On Feb. 25 at 5:15 p.m., a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) made charges on their Actors Federal Credit Union credit card. The charges are in the amount of $706.21.

Suspicious incident
n At 8:10 a.m. on Feb. 26, a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) used chalk to draw an 8-inch swastika in front of their home on Village Avenue in Lynbrook.
n On March 3 at 3:19 a.m., the Lynbrook Police Department received a phone call for a suspicious auto on Forest Avenue in Lynbrook. The caller stated that the occupants were seen playing with a handgun. The three occupants, a 25-year-old male from East Rockaway, a 23-year-old-male from Oceanside and a 22-year-old male also from Oceanside were found to be in possession of a 9mm pistol. After further investigation the pistol was found to be a “Starters” pistol.

Grand larceny
 On Feb. 28 at 9:57 a.m., a complainant reported that $20,800 worth of tools used for automotive repairs was taken from his place of business, Dealer Alternative, located at 675 Merrick Rd., Lynbrook. The theft occurred between 10 p.m. on Feb. 27 and 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 28.
