Thief tries to make off with some sweet treats

Peter Brown 49, of Lawrence, was arrested and charged second-degree robbery after police say he attempted to steal multiple containers of Haagen-Daz ice cream.

According to the police report, Brown attempted to conceal the frozen delights and leave the Seven Eleven store located at 480 Rockaway Turnpike in East Rockaway. His attempt was foiled, however when the store’s cashier noticed the attempted robbery. A struggle ensued between Brown and the cashier, leaving the store employee with a swollen left eye.

A nearby canine patrol officer observed the altercation and placed Brown under arrest. The cashier refused medical treatment for his injury.

Arrests

A 27-year-old of Massapequa Park, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and No Seat Belt on Merrick Road in Lynbrook at 6:55 p.m. on Sept. 9

At 6:55 p.m. on Sept. 9,  a 23-year-old, of East Rockaway, was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and one count of both Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Unsafe Backing on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

A 25-year-old, of Franklin Square, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Littering on Merrick Road in Lynbrook On at 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 9

At 11:08 a.m. on Sept. 10, a 20-year-old, of Far Rockaway, was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident at the Lynbrook Police Department Headquarters located at 1 Columbus Drive in Lynbrook.

A 21-year-old of Rosedale, Queens, was arrested and charged with False Personation at the Lynbrook Police Department Headquarters located at 1 Columbus Drive at 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 11.

A Valley Stream resident was arrested and charged with two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, and one count of both Drive Wrong Way on One Way Street and Failure to Signal on Hempstead Avenue.

A 19-year-old of Elmont, was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny at Rite Aid Pharmacy, located at 400 Sunrise Highway at 4:52 p.m. on Sept. 14
