Crime Watch: East Rockaway, Lynbrook

Teen approached in East Rockaway

According to Nassau County Police Department detectives, a 15-year-old female was walking on First Avenue in East Rockaway when an unknown male approached her at 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 17. The male was either white or Hispanic, and was driving a 4-door shiny black sedan. He reportedly made several attempts to convince the female victim to get into the car. He then drove away when he noticed her cell phone being used. There were no injuries to report.
The Fourth Squad is currently investigating the details of this incident. Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Arrests

On Jan. 8 at 7:45 a.m., a 34-year-old man of East Rockaway, was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal contempt on Blake Avenue in Lynbrook.

At 3:31 p.m. on Jan. 8, a 43-year-old man of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with petit larceny on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

A 29-year-old  Fresh Meadows man was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance on Lakewood Boulevard on Jan. 8 at 9:51 p.m.

On Jan. 8 at 9:51 p.m., a 26-year-old of Bayside was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana on Lakewood Boulevard in Lynbrook.

At 9:51 p.m. on Jan. 8, a 22-year-old of Long Island City, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana on Lakewood Boulevard in Lynbrook.

On Jan. 8 at 11:15 p.m., a 22-year-old Lynbrook man was arrested and charged with assault for an incident that occurred on Oakland Avenue in Lynbrook on Jan. 1

A 35-year-old Flushing woman was arrested and charged with two counts of unauthorized practice at 337 Merrick Road on Jan. 9 at 1:50 p.m. The defendant, while employed as a massage therapist at The Recovery Center, performed a massage without being licensed by the State of New York.

On Jan. 10 at 10:42 a.m., a 22-year-old Lynbrook man was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana and tinted windows on Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook.
