Members of the Lynbrook School District and community gathered on Oct. 25 for a day of action-packed homecoming festivities.

The annual PTA Scholarship football game, played on the turf field at Marion Street School’s Santo J. Barbarino Athletic Complex, resulted in a 30-14 Owls victory against the Glen Cove Big Red.

A parade starting outside of Lynbrook High School as the cheerleaders, kickline, homecoming court and other participants made their way through the neighborhood to the tune of the high school’s marching band. The freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior classes each displayed brightly decorated banners representing their grade levels.

Just before the game, senior class cheerleaders, kickline members and football players received special introductions as they entered the field accompanied by their parents. Christina DiCosimo and Luke Germanakos were named Homecoming Queen and King. An abundance of school and community spirit was present throughout the afternoon as the Owls earned the win. During halftime, spectators enjoyed the talents of the marching band, cheerleaders and kickline.

Proceeds from ticket, food and T-shirt sales will go toward scholarships for graduating seniors.
