Support the school budget

To the Editor:

Next Tuesday is voting day for our school budget. The members of our school PTAs have voted overwhelmingly to support the 2014-15 budget, and we urge Rockville Centre residents to get out and vote.

For the third year in a row, the members of our Board of Education and the employees of the school district have worked diligently to preserve the existing academic and extracurricular programming while maintaining a budget within the tax levy cap limits. In an era of sharply rising spending mandates without offsetting aid, this is a big accomplishment. However, for the budget to pass, we need everyone to get out and vote! Polling takes place at South Side High School from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Please take a moment out of your day to vote “yes” and support the budget to:

• continue the academic excellence our community expects;

• preserve the programming that could be at risk if a contingency plan is in effect;

• invest in our community and put our children first.

Let’s work together as a community to support our children. Please join us in voting “yes” on Tuesday at South Side High School.

Re-elect Mayda Kramer

To the Editor:

We are urging our friends and neighbors to re-elect Mayda Kramer to the Rockville Centre Board of Education. We worked extensively with Mayda when she was treasurer and then president of the South Side High School PTA, and know she is an asset to our schools and deserves another term on our school board.

Mayda believes passionately in public education and has worked tirelessly to ensure that all children in Rockville Centre receive the best education possible. As an accountant, she has the skill set necessary to analyze and negotiate our school budget and bond issues in a fiscally responsible way. This year she vowed to retain our current levels of staff and service with the smallest tax levy possible, and that goal was achieved.

Please join us on Tuesday in re-electing Mayda Kramer to another term as school board trustee.

Vote for Mayda

To the Editor:

We have had the pleasure to know Mayda Kramer for the past several years, not only as a neighbor but as a Rockville Centre school board trustee. She has shown her dedication to our school district by consistently attending school functions such as concerts, PTA meetings, homecoming parades and many other activities, big or small.

We have known her to always be thoughtful, kind and objective. She understands the challenges our school district is facing and has worked collaboratively with other board members and administrators to make the schools successful. She is never satisfied with the status quo and is continuously looking for ways the district can provide the best educational services to our students.

We have four children as well as many nieces and nephews attending RVC schools, and we are happy to support Mayda Kramer as a member of the school board. We are happy to know she is on the board, looking out for all the children in Rockville Centre. Please help support her re-election.

A Kramer fan

To the Editor:

I am writing to endorse Mayda Kramer for another term on the Rockville Centre Board of Education. She has an impressive handle on the priorities and challenges facing our school district, solid financial expertise as a CPA and a thoughtful and deliberate approach to her role on the board. She is one of those rare individuals who listens more than she speaks.

I also want to note that there are two seats open on the board, which means each resident has two votes in the election. The best way to influence the outcome for the candidates you support is to exercise both of your votes.

Support Kramer

To the Editor:

I am writing to support the re-election of Mayda Kramer to the Rockville Centre school board. I have known and worked with Mayda through the PTA for more than 10 years. She is smart, articulate and responsive. During her tenure on the board, she has been an effective and tireless advocate for our schools, and deserves our votes.

One of the things I’ve always admired about her is the enormous energy she brings to school district issues. Maintaining an excellent public school education for Rockville Centre students while minimizing residents’ tax levy is something she is truly passionate about. I hope you’ll join me in giving Mayda one of your two votes for school board trustee next Tuesday.

Vote for Spaulding

To The Editor:

I write to express my support for Gregg Spaulding for trustee on the Rockville Centre Board of Education. I have had the pleasure of knowing Gregg since we both attended South Side High School. I have known him in many capacities. He has served this village and school district in many ways over the years. He is a member of the Rockville Centre Fire Department and has been an active member of the South Hempstead PAL.

Gregg brings a great deal of experience and know-how to all that he does. As a member of the Fire Department, he served on many committees and held positions in his company. While registering his children for PAL, he learned there was a need for coaches, and gave up many of his Friday nights to take an active roll in Sports Night. He continued to be active in PAL even after his children aged out of the program.

Gregg and I have had many conversations on the state of education in New York, and especially in Rockville Centre. He is very well versed in the regulations associated with education. And more important, he is well versed on the budget and its many demands. So much of every school budget is based on mandates by the state. As a member of the Board of Ed, Gregg has helped to develop ways to address those mandates while ensuring that the highest qualities associated with education in Rockville Centre are maintained.

We are both a product of this district and take a great deal of pride in seeing its accomplishments. Rarely have I been to a function in the district and not seen Gregg. He takes pride in being a parent of Rockville Centre students and in being a member of the Board of Education.

The most powerful thing that I can say about Gregg is that he is a problem solver. He is a team player. And I can say from personal experience that he is always there to lend a helping hand.

I’m proud to support Gregg Spaulding for the Rockville Centre Board of Education.
