On Nov. 7, in the Grand Hall of the Lynbrook Public Library, Loops of Love, a charitable organization that puts their time and talent into knitting, crocheting and quilting to benefit others, presented nearly 200 blankets to Nassau firefighters who belong to Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior — who in turn will present the blankets to injured military personnel in military hospitals at Bethesda MD, and Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. The firefighters travel there in December to bring other Christmas presents to the wounded.

Over the past eight years Loops of Love has donated over 1,800 blankets for our wounded warriors.

Loops of Love, led by Barbara Barnhart, and formerly known at Stitches of the Heart, is an organization of volunteers who love to knit, crochet and quilt. The core group of about 160 people is located in Lynbrook and they presently supply approximately 29 hospitals and institutions along the East Coast.

Loops consists of three main groups: the Lynbrook Library group, SunnyLane of Bethpage, a senior community group, and individual volunteers who work from their homes. The three groups rely totally on donations to assist in the expenses of supplies and the mailing of gift boxes.
