Rockin’ it in East Rockaway

School of Rock puts on a fun day of music and ‘the best of the fests’

Posted

Young local student musicians, along with national touring bands performed in Memorial Park in East Rockaway last Saturday in the first Rock Fest held in the community.

The free concert began at noon and continued for the entire day, featuring the “best of the fests,” as students and national touring bands cover music featured at Ozzfest, the Warped Tour, Coachella and Lilith Fair. Bands involved in the event include The Inoculated Canaries, Craving Strange, Revel 9 and Midnight Mob. The four bands played in between the students’ performances throughout the day.

Show director Dylan Gross, the assistant general manager and an instructor at the School of Rock in Rockville Centre, spearheaded the concert. “Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us for School of Rock Fest!” he said. “It was a great showcase of talent of both students and professional bands of all levels of experience and genres. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with the Village of East Rockaway, and to continue being the “rock” in East Rockaway!”
