Sports schedule hit by storm

In anticipation of anywhere from 6-18 inches of snow between Friday and Saturday, the start of the Nassau County Division I and II wrestling championships were postponed to Sunday.

The Division I tournament will begin on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at Hofstra University's Mack Sports Complex. The semifinals are set for Tuesday morning, and the finals for Tuesday evening beginning at 6 p.m. The entire Division II tournament will be held at Carle Place High School on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.

A handful of Nassau boys' and girls' basketball games previously scheduled for Friday were played on Thursday evening. All of the games remaining on Friday's schedule were called by 1 p.m. Most will be played Monday or Tuesday.

The county swim championships are now Monday at 6 p.m. at Nassau Aquatic Center. The individual bowling championships were moved to Tuesday at Garden City Bowl at 3 p.m., while the gymnastics championships will be held at 5 p.m. at Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School.
