William H. Rebman, Jr. died peacefully at home in Maryland July 8, with his family. He was 77.

During the 1950s, Rebman was a charter member of the Avenue Angels Car Club of East Rockaway, and a member of the East Rockaway Fire Department Hose Company No. 1.

He and his wife, Patricia, an ERHS 1957 graduate, raised their family in Baldwin. He retired from the Long Island Lighting Company in 1995 after working there for 35 years. He enjoyed his retirement, spending time with family and friends, often visiting them in Maryland and Florida.

“There were no strangers in his life,” said his daughter, Victoria Comer, a Maryland resident who grew up in East Rockaway.

Besides his wife and daughter, Rebman is survived by his sons William H. Rebman III of Baldwin, and James P. Rebman of Connecticut; daughters-in-law Susan Pinglora Rebman and Veronica Monck Rebman; and son-in-law Lawrence R. Comer. He was the much loved and treasured “Poppy” to Zachary, Heather, Trisha and Ryan Comer, and James, Kate, Billy and Kyle Rebman. He was the brother of Eileen ‘Jinx’ Rebman Aliprandi of Connecticut.
