Lynbrook High School was a sea of green and gold and the school spirit resonated with the players on the field as the Owls suited up for their Homecoming game against Valley Stream South High School on Saturday.
Following a pep rally and parade, Lynbrook had a happy Homecoming, picking up its first win of the season to improve to 1-2 overall with a 35-0 drubbing of their opponents.
“It was an incredible team effort from start to finish,” head coach Stephen LoCicero said. “I am happy for the senior class, they work hard every day and are magnificent young men. They exhibit every day our program motto, ‘One family, one heartbeat.’”
LoCicero said all seniors and every underclassman received playing time in the game and he called it a “wonderful day of community and football.”
Lynbrook raced out to a 14-0 lead at halftime, during which the cheerleaders, the band, the color guard and the kick line entertained the many spectators gathered at the field. Griffin Kirby and Angelica Almonte served as Homecoming king and queen.

After the half, the Owls were relentless in their efforts, keeping Valley Stream off the board.
The ball was spread around plenty for the Owls as Ethan Hoyte, Jonathan Cabral-Martin and Danny Martinez each rushed for touchdowns.
