Lynbrook resident Paul Felix completed the “Tough Mudder Full Challenge” on July 22 at Old Bethpage Village Restoration to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Felix was one of many participants representing Team AFA. A Tough Mudder is a lengthy obstacle course in which participants test their endurance and their physical and mental strength. It was the first time AFA had an official team, but the organization plans to continue participating in Tough Mudder events throughout the year.

As part of the challenge, Felix completed a grueling, 10-mile course that was lined with 20 different strenuous obstacles.

“Team AFA was presented with a hard and grueling challenge, but in the face of many obstacles, they found the strength, endurance and determination to complete their mission just as caregivers do every single day,” said Charles Fuschillo, Jr., the president and CEO of the AFA, in a release. “We are very proud of them and congratulate them on an incredible job.”

The event raised awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and also generated funds for the AFA’s programs and services for families affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementia.
