On Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., the New York Tennis Expo returns to NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y. to kick off the 2019 New York Open.
“We are proud to be kicking off year two of the New York Open. Nearly 4,000 people came out to enjoy the 2018 New York Tennis Expo last year, and Long Island and New York Tennis Magazines are excited to announce the return of this one-of-a-kind event,” said David Sickmen, Publisher of Long Island Tennis Magazine and New York Tennis Magazine. “This free event provides unparalleled exposure and branding opportunities for companies who want to promote their programs, products, services, etc. to a diverse audience in a fun environment. For local families, it is a perfect way to spend the day as there is fun for everyone both on and off the court!”
The 2019 New York Tennis Expo will have something for the whole family. The Exhibitor Hall will be filled with representatives and coaches from top tennis programs, clubs, academies, camps, product lines, experts in the field of sports medicine and travel destinations, as well as companies and brands beyond the tennis world.
Attendees will have the opportunity to play on the same black courts used by the pros during the New York Open, as the New York Tennis Expo will feature collegiate players from the men’s and women’s programs from Adelphi, Farmingdale, Nassau Community College and the New York Institute of Technology conducting free tennis lessons throughout the day. The teams will be joined throughout the day by special guest coaches, including legendary coach Nick Bollettieri, who has worked with greats such as Andre Agassi and Maria Sharapova, and former Grand Slam doubles champion Luke Jensen.
In addition, Bollettieri will take part in a meet-and-greet and autograph signing during the Expo. And make sure to get your seat inside the Grant Thornton VIP Lounge, as Bollettieri and Jensen, in addition to ATP stars Ryan Harrison and Steve Johnson, will be co-headlining the Expo’s two Speaker Session Panels. These Sessions will give the audience a chance to ask ATP players and top coaches in the industry questions on a variety of topics.

American tennis great Andy Roddick, former world number one and U.S. Open champion, will also be on hand at the New York Tennis Expo Broadcast Plaza for a meet and greet and autograph signing. Roddick, as well as Jim Courier, former United States Davis Cup team Captain, will be on-site throughout the afternoon making appearances as they prepare to take part in New York Open’s Opening Night event.
Despite the cold weather outside, guests will have the chance to get a taste of summer at the Beach Tennis Arena. There will be a New York Beach Tennis teaching professional on-hand to play points and instruct proper technique, so kick off your shoes and step into the sand!
The Kids Zone will feature both tennis activities and non-tennis activities, including a 10 & Under Mini-Tennis Court, presented by USTA Eastern, where kids can get out on the court, whether a regular player or a first-timer. In addition, there will be a bouncy house inside the Expo Hall, plus face-painting, balloon animals, a Long Island Nets Inflatable Basketball Shot Game and a Speed Serve Booth presented by SPORTIME. There will be a live band, as well as a DJ, so make sure to bring your racket and get ready to have some fun!
"We are excited over presenting the New York Tennis Expo and New York Open 2.0 so to speak," said New York Open Tournament Director Josh Ripple. "When we reflect on the 2018 New York Open, it was clear that the New York Tennis Expo successfully seeded the week which afforded kids, adults, and sports and recreational companies locally and regionally, a chance to be exposed to the new NYCB LIVE, our signature black courts and plain old fun and value that United Sports Publications brought to the party.”
Make sure to come on down to NYCB LIVE on Feb. 9 for a free event with fun for the whole family, and a great chance to meet some of the game’s biggest stars. Visit 2019NYTennisExpo.EventBrite.com for more information and to secure your FREE parking pass.
