Local chambers hold elections, host holiday parties

The Franklin Square and Elmont chambers of commerce recently held local elections, naming new officials and honoring new members.

The Franklin Square Chamber of Commerce elected new officers for 2012 on Nov. 17, at Filomena’s Restaurant in Franklin Square. Joseph Ardito, Esq. was named the chamber’s new president; Bruno Caracciolo was named first vice president; Lisa Dellipizzi was named second vice president; Maria Caliendo was named third vice president; Patrice Maresca-Sehne was named fourth vice president; Debbie Hickey was named treasurer; Frank Culmone was named secretary; and Larry Prendergast was named executive secretary.

The chamber’s new officers, as well as its new Board of Directors, will be sworn in on Jan. 18 at 6 p.m., at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant in Franklin Square.

The Elmont Chamber of Commerce also elected new officers in November: Paul Sapienza, of Sapienza Bake Shop, was named president; Jessica Carrasquillo, of the Bethpage Federal Credit Union, was named first vice president; Muzzio Tallini, owner of Signature Organization, was named second vice president; Tony Errara, of Capitol One, was named treasurer; Joanne Adams, of the New York Racing Association, was named secretary; and Julie Marchesella, of Queen of Hearts, was named corresponding secretary.

Carl Achille, co-owner of The Shop in Elmont, was newly elected to the Board of Directors, joining Pat Boyle, of Gateway Youth Outreach; John Tudisco, of Fiorano Tile; and Barry Scwartz, of Ridgewood Savings Bank.

The Elmont chamber also recently brought on new members, including Enterprise Pawn, Joe’s Meals on Wheels, The Shop, Ahcarack Consulting, Astoria Federal Savings, Solages and Solages, the Stop 20 Diner, No Frills Tire, E&K Printing and Flushing Bank. On Dec. 8, the chamber held its annual holiday party.

The Franklin Square chamber will be holding its annual holiday party on Dec. 29 at 6 p.m., at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant.
