Nassau County police arrested a man in connection with a shooting in Elmont at 10:55 a.m. on Monday that left a man dead and a woman in critical condition. According to detectives, Wilfred Labossiere, 31, of Far Rockaway arrived at an Oakley Avenue residence to drop of his 3-year-old son. After leaving the residence, Labossiere called the home and became involved in an argument with the child’s grandmother regarding visitation.

Labossiere then returned to the Oakley Avenue home and a verbal argument ensued with the grandmother and a family member, Christopher Mullings, 29, of Roosevelt. Police said the argument then became physical between Labossiere and Mullings at which point Labossiere withdrew a handgun and fired multiple shots striking the 51-year-old grandmother and Mullings.

Labossiere then grabbed the grandmother and drove her in his vehicle to a local hospital. At the hospital bay, Labossiere gave the victim to hospital personnel and fled the scene. The grandmother was admitted for treatment of her wounds and is listed in critical but stable condition. Mullings suffered fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fourth precinct officers spotted Labossiere’s car in Far Rockaway at which point he was placed under arrest without incident. He is charged with murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
