The Bellmore Family Street Festival will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores, the fair has long been a staple of the Bellmore community, drawing thousands to enjoy the festivities.

“There are going to be different merchants on the strip,” James Spohrer, the chamber vice president, said. “There are going to be craft vendors, home improvement vendors. We have a variety of different [exhibits] that are going to be there. Just come down and have a good time.”

Spohrer has been involved with the festival for five years, and this is the first year that he has taken on the role of chamber vice president. When asked what has changed about the fair over the years, he said, “It’s progressed with a lot of different activities and vendors … I think this year’s going to be the best so far.”
This year’s entertainment includes a petting zoo, a car show, a craft expo, a nature exhibition, a military and business expo, pony rides and more. Before the main event, there will be a large carnival on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 15 and 16.

The festival will take place at the Bellmore Long Island Rail Road station, at Bedford Avenue and Sunrise Highway. Parking will be available at the Merrick LIRR station. Trolleys will take fair-goers back and forth between the two stations.
