Elmont Fire Dept. responds to deli fire

A sign was placed outside Milk Farm Deli, in North Valley Stream, to announce an indefinite closing following extensive interior damage due to a fire on Aug. 14.

The Elmont Fire Department responded to a fire that started inside the Milk Farm Deli, at 1561 North Central Ave., in North Valley Stream, on Aug. 14 at 10:20 p.m.

Firefighters were alerted for a building fire at the intersection of Central Avenue and North Drive and discovered upon arrival that the deli’s interior was ablaze. Fire Chief Domenic Francavilla told the Herald that the flames were extinguished in approximately 20 minutes and the store is now closed.

Though there were no injuries, the interior of the store sustained significant damage. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
