Elmont man arrested in fatal shooting

An Elmont man was arrested and accused of fatally shooting a 50-year-old man on Sept. 28. According to the Nassau County Police Department, the accused, Rodmon Green, 40, had an ongoing dispute with the victim, Jerome Steward, also of Elmont.

Green shot and killed Steward, police said, when an argument between the two men early last Friday morning escalated, and guns were fired at 3:35 a.m. Steward was hit and taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

NCPD detectives apprehended Green after he fled the scene on foot. He was charged with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.
