Elmont marching band visits veterans

Members of Elmont Union Free School District’s Marching Band visited and performed for residents at the New York State Veterans’ Home at St. Albans in Jamaica on Feb. 7.

The students shared several musical selections with veterans during the visit, which was organized by Elmont Dads’ Service Club. Elmont Board of Education President Michael Jaime, Trustee Ray Sims, Social Worker Robert Lennihan and District Music Coordinator Anthony Pino were present at the event. Gotham Avenue School Principal Marshall Zucker and Assistant Principal William Mingo were also in attendance along with Covert Avenue School teacher Dr. Valerie Reese.
