A Charlie Brown Holiday
Those familiar riffs so defined by the Peanuts gang are vibrantly performed by renowned jazz pianist-composer David Benoit when serves up his “Christmas Tribute to Charlie Brown.” Benoit will pay homage to his idol, Peanuts composer Vince Guaraldi, when he is joined by vocalist Jane Monheit for this special concert devoted to the memorable music that fans of the five-decades holiday TV tradition, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” know so well. This lively concert includes a mix of original compositions, Charlie Brown classics and holiday favorites. With his love for “Peanuts” music Benoit has chosen a great time to tour: this year is the 50th anniversary of the Peanuts Christmas special, which started it all.

1863 Thanksgiving
If you missed it last weekend, there’s still time to step back in time and take part in a traditional Thanksgiving as it was celebrated in the 19th century at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Old-fashioned wood burning stoves, beehive ovens and hearths are fired up to prepare a variety of foods and baked goods, using historical recipes. A fat turkey is spitted and roasted, with a demonstration of food preservation methods, musical entertainment and children’s activities.
Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28-29, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $10, $7 children 5-12 and seniors. 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage. (516) 572-8401.
