Kindergarten Tea brings together parents and children

Kindergarten students at Dutch Broadway School, in Elmont, were joined by their parents for the annual Kindergarten Tea event on Sept. 13. The purpose of Kindergarten Tea is to not only give parents the opportunity to work on a fall-related activity an enjoy snack with their children, but to also meet fellow parents of other children and socialize with them.

Assistant Principal Shawnee Warfield, who organized the event alongside the PTA, said that the event is a fantastic way to start off the school year.

“Having a Kindergarten Tea is a great way to bring families together,” Warfield said. “Parents are able to meet and socialize with other kindergarten parents that they might not necessarily have the opportunity to meet otherwise. It's also a time for parents to take part in a creative activity with their child.”

After they completed a coloring activity or a story, children and their parents enjoyed iced tea and healthy snacks with each other. Students from all six of Dutch Broadway’s kindergarten classes participated in the Tea.
