As of the opening of the school year on Sept. 7, Sherry and Paul H. Durnan now have nine of their grandchildren attending St. Agnes Cathedral School.

Four of them are brand new kindergarteners, Joseph Durnan, Justin Durnan, Charleigh Durnan and Vivian Plunkett. They joined their five older cousins at the school ranging from first grade to fifth grade. They are Paul E. Durnan (5th), Jack Durnan (4th), Kelley Durnan (3rd), Cassidy Durnan (1st) and Oliver Plunkett (1st).

All of Sherry and Paul Durnan’s seven adult children attended St. Agnes Cathedral School spanning the years from 1970 through 1992. Sherry, in looking at the nine grandchildren, said, “I guess Paul and I will still be somewhat involved with St. Agnes Cathedral School for many more years to come!”

The grandfather, Paul H. Durnan, graduated from St. Agnes School in 1955.

In addition to the new Durnan grandchildren starting kindergarten this year, the school welcomed a new principal, Mrs. Cecilia St. John, as well as a new assistant principal, Mr. Brian Jensen. There are currently over 700 students from K to 8 enrolled in the school, which makes it the largest parish elementary school in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
