Six cats rescued from Franklin Square home

Man facing animal cruelty charges

Six cats were removed from a Franklin Square home yesterday as they were sick from living in 'deplorable conditions.'

Phillip Langdon, of Franklin Square, is facing animal cruelty charges. His home had been sealed off by the Town of Hempstead as evidence of hoarding deemed it unsafe for living.

"When investigators got to the home, they found that the animals were living in deplorable conditions," said Gary Rogers, spokesman for the Nassau SPCA. "They discovered that he wasn't hoarding cats but personal materials, which might have been his mother's stuff, as she recently passed away."

Langdon was unavailable for comment.

The six cats removed are sick. There are  about 10-15 more cats still living in the home, to be removed and taken to safety.
