A woman went into labor on April 11 while waiting at a bus stop in Elmont, according to the Nassau County Police Department’s 4th Squad — and gave birth to twins before she reached the hospital.

County police, who received a call from a witness, said that Mariejunia Ally, 33, went into labor while she waited at a bus stop at Meacham Avenue and Rosser Street at 6:40 a.m. last Friday. The three officers who arrived at the scene delivered a baby boy as they waited for an ambulance.

Then, as Ally and her newborn son were being transported to Winthrop University Hospital, in Mineola, she gave birth to another boy, who, police said, could not breath on his own and was given CPR.

Ally and both of her newborn twins were doing well, according to an NCPD release. A department spokesman told the Herald at press time that he had no other information about Ally or the deliveries.
