Dinner and magic show at Mia’s

Mia’s of Valley Stream, located at 31 Rockaway Avenue, will host a dinner and magic show on Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. There, guests can see Steve Rodman Bill Krupskas’ close-up magic and the Magic of Amore. Water games at the Henry Waldinger library

Children in grades three through six can play outdoor group games with water balloons on Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. They should be prepared to get wet and win small prizes. Prepare for Pre-K at the Elmont Library

Children between the ages of 2 ½ and those entering Pre-Kindergarten can prepare for school at the Elmont Memorial Library on Aug. 21. Songs of life

Singer-songwriter Suzi Shelton returns to the Long Island Children’s Museum stage with guitarist Greg Mayo and drummer Dan Weiner, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 22-23, 11:30 a.m. They’ll be singing songs from Shelton’s latest album, “Smile In My Heart,” along with some of her old favorites. Tableau Vivants

Enter into sculptor Seward Johnson’s world at Old Westbury Gardens, Sunday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. Visitors to the Seward Johnson exhibit can explore tableau vivant (living pictures), a style of artistic presentation popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
