Lawrence resident James Rotenberg was elected national president of Hadassah Associates, an  organization of more than 33,000 men, whose mission is to advance medical research, healing and education in the U.S., Israel and across the globe.

Under Rotenberg’s leadership, the group’s Men’s Health Initiative for 2017 is raising money for Alzheimer’s disease research at the Hadassah Medical Organization. In recognition of his efforts on their behalf, the Marion & Aaron Gural JCC honored him at its 15th annual dinner as one of its People of the Year.

Rotenberg’s family escaped to Cuba and ultimately came to the U.S. from Berlin shortly after Kristallnacht. He grew up in the Inwood section of Manhattan. He is a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science, the University of Wisconsin and the New York University School of Law.

He retired as a special advisor to Buck Consultants, a Xerox Company, and as a principal and director of Global M&A from Mellon’s Human Resources & Investor Services, after having associated with the law firms of Shearman & Sterling, and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. Rotenberg is the Founder and a principal in JCR Consulting, a business consultancy, specializing in transformational consulting.
