PSEG Long Island is reporting about 299 of its nearly 1.1 million customers across Long Island and the Rockaways are currently without electric service. Any remaining customers will be restored by midnight.

"We are so proud of our crews, customer service and support personnel who once again worked around the clock in challenging conditions to safely and quickly restore power to our customers," said John O'Connell, vice president of Transmission and Distribution for PSEG Long Island. "This month has been tough for our customers losing power, and our crews working 16-hour shifts away from their families for days at a time. We thank our customers for their patience, elected officials across Long Island and the Rockaways for their support, and PSEG Long Island's workforce for their incredible dedication to keeping the lights on for customers."

The fourth nor'easter of the month dropped at leas 8 inches of snow on the Five Towns, but Hewlett-Woodmere and Lawrence schools were open, while Sanitary District 1 was closed.

The Long Island Rail Road operated on a regular weekday schedule on all branches. There were some residual delays because of the storm. Caution had to be taken when walking on station platforms and staircases.

With Five Towns villages, the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County in clean up mode, it's critical for motorists to get their vehicles off the street.

“Please make every effort to avoid parking on the road, use your driveway or a village parking lot,” Cedarhurst Mayor Benjamin Weinstck said. “If you must park on the street, try to have all the cars on the block parked on the same side. We will plow to the curb and later, the cars can be moved to the other side and will gladly come back and plow to the other curb.”

Village of Lawrence crews are out and will be used judiciously to ensure their effectiveness. Officials there also ask that residents use common sense, be considerate of their neighbors and park off the street so the plows can move the snow.
