Woodmere resident and Holocaust survivor, Fred Lifschutz was the featured speaker at Chabad of Hewlett’s Holocaust commemoration event, on Aug. 10, which was done in coordination with the Jewish holiday of Tisha B’Av, a somber day when Jews fast and recall the tragic events in the religion’s history.

More than 300 people attended the Chabad of Hewlett’s gala dinner at the Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor last month. The Chabad on Everit Avenue in Hewlett celebrated another year of Jewish education and observance.

Hanukkah is the holiday of light. We light the menorah every night for eight nights — one candle on the first night (this year starting on Dec. 24 after sunset), then again each night, adding one more candle every night.
