A man avoided being robbed when after allegedly being threatened by a male attacker with a six- to eight-inch knife he refused to surrender his money and cell phone, and then ran away heading west towards Rockaway Turnpike in Cedarhurst, where he lost sight of that man, according to police.

The alleged victim was walking east on Pearsall Avenue near Washington Avenue at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, when he was approached from behind by a black man, 20- to 22-years-old, approximately 5-feet, 3-inches in height, wearing a green sweatshirt and blue jeans, police said.

No injuries were reported.
