Attempted robbery in Inwood on Mervin Street

Alleged thief fired gun at the victim

A woman pulled into her Mervin Street driveway in Inwood at 7:52 p.m. on Oct. 16, and as she got out of her car a man with a handgun demanded her pocketbook, according to police.
A struggle ensued and the woman pushed the man, who then ran away without the pocketbook, police said. After she shouted for help, the man stopped, turned around and fired one shot in the woman’s direction. She was not hit.
The man, who is described as black wearing dark-colored clothing fled south towards Alvin Place, police said.
