Hewlett High School senior Stephanie Gal coordinated a Bowl-a-thon at Woodmere Lanes in Woodmere on May 10 that raised $6,400 to benefit program events for SIBSPlace of South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside.

A total of 48 attended the event, including 30 children who bowled. SIBSPlace is a free support program for children 5-17, living with a sibling or parent who has cancer or another serious or devastating illness.

“It’s so inspiring to observe the dedication students and their families have to ensuring the existence of caring and supportive in our community,” said Suzanne Kornblatt, coordinator of SIBSPlace.
