Buccaneers get ready for football season

The Lawrence-based Inwood Buccaneer Athletic Club held its annual Inwood Buccaneer Day at Lawrence High School last Sunday. The event is to showcase the club’s seven, eight, nine, 10, 11 and 12 year-olds football teams and its cheerleaders.
The Buccaneer teams plays in the Nassau County Youth Football League, which is a single-age division league with weight limits. Athletes are weighed in at the beginning of the season without equipment (registration weight) and subsequently weighed-in each week prior to the game with equipment (game weight).
All players must make their registration weight at the mandatory league weigh-in during the month of August in order to be on the official league roster. There is an additional 10-pound weight allowance for equipment in season.
