Avid bowler loved the Mets

Longtime member of the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary and lifetime Inwood resident Cecelia Macioce died on Dec. 19, after battling ovarian cancer. She was 67.
Allison Castagna, said she will remember her mother as “fun, outgoing and strong-willed.” “She loved cats, the beach, her Mets, and flowers,” Castagna said.
Born on March 29, 1946, Macioce graduated from Lawrence High School in 1964. She worked at the Lynbrook Bridal Center for many years, according to Castagna and as a customer representative answering telephone calls for the Cedarhurst-based sales and marketing firm Eliot Lee, Inc.
An avid bowler, she bowled in a league at Woodmere Lanes for 48 years, her husband Paul said.
Macioce is survived by Paul, children, John Michael (Staci) of Woodmere, Allison (Vincent) Castagna of Inwood, and Jacqueline (John) Puzio of Lawrence; her sisters, Irene Starks and Claire Bufford; her brother, Gerald Poulin; and her six grandchildren, John Jr., Alexa, Dylan, Anthony, Stephanie and Samantha.
A viewing was held at Meserole Funeral Home in Inwood on Dec. 22. The funeral mass was at Our Lady of Good Council church, also in Inwood, on Dec. 23 She was interred at Rockville Cemetery in Lynbrook.
